Gilbert Keith Chesterton (1874 – 1936) was an English novelist and man of letters.w Chesterton seems to be one of Gaiman's favorite authors. In A Doll's House, the character Fiddler's Green in Sandman assumes the visual form of Chesterton. In the epilogue of Season of Mists, Gaiman invents a passage from a book Chesterton dreamed, but never wrote.
